Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria for the Greek Orthodox Church (1678-1688). He served as Metropolitan of Nazareth under the name Prochoros. Following the resignation of the Patriarch Paisios of Alexandria he was elected Patriarch and received the name Parthenios. He visited Moldavia and Vlachia to look for money, having been convinced by the Arab governors of Egypt to do so. He was crushed in the ruins of the home he lived in following a strong earthquake and died in Smyrna.
